All in all, this was a nice restaurant, but the issues itemized above don't meet our expectations for fine dining. We're working on a limited budget and going out is an infrequent treat. If we lived closer to this restaurant, we might give it a try again, but we'll probably not come back because the risk is not worth the drive. We have other places we know will hit all the fine dining buttons.
Location and decor wise this is the nicest restaurant in town. There were a couple of items on the menu that they did not have, so it was a bit surprising. Overall, a good place for dinner with good food and friendly staff.
Please be aware that if you order the same meal twice in a row it will not turn out the same. I was informed by the staff that is due to turn over in the kitchen. Just a disappointment all the way around.
So we arrived in Marshall to try it again only to find that some of the good menu items have been removed from their menu and once again we found zero consistency in their food. This is the third and final opportunity we had with this restaurant that started off with such great promise and great food and service. Our service today was mediocre and the food was absolutely a disaster.
We ate at the Marshal Mn Location. We drove 45 miles for a casual day antique shopping and I planned to take my bride out for a nice supper. I'd like to clearly differentiate the quality of service from the quality of food and the ambiance.
Ambiance: As we sat down, we realized there was a candle. We thought dinner by candle light would be nice. Surprise... the candle was electric. We decided to go with the flow, but unfortunately, the battery was dead. That added to the dirty coffee cup, bathroom had clearly not been cleaned for a while (soap and water all over the counter top) make the ambiance factor fall short of a five star setting.
This restaurant has a good variety of Italian items in their menu. The food is consistently well-prepared, and I have more often than not been very happy with the service. We like to come here with friends for a good meal.
Service: My wife and I were very pleased with our server. She offered assistance as needed, gave us the time to casually select our food, and took our order professionally. She followed up a few minutes after our food was served to ask if our first bites were acceptable. She was attentive through out the meal and was willing to work with us on the food issues that came up during our meal.
We arrived at 9 pm and were told they were closed. The posted hours online and on door said 10 pm. We drove 30 minutes to come here.
An upscale place. A date night and celebration location. Our meal of lasagna was rich, mostly cheese, not to our liking. Good fresh leafy salad. Bar service with extensive wine and beer selection.
Food: Coffee was OK, but the cup was dirty. It had coffee stains on the cup from the previous customer. Also, the cup was not conducive to holding heat. My wife likes her coffee hot and the coffee got cold fast. The server brought out bread, saucers and oil to go with salads. The bread was a bit stale. We ordered one garden salad and a Cesar salad. The Blue Cheese dressing was home made and wonderful. The Cesar salad was pretty good, but there were three lettuce leaves that were dark and wilted. My bride ordered the Fettuccini with chicken. Fettuccini was OK, and the chicken tasted like it'd been taken out of the freezer. It did not taste fresh. I ordered the special for today (Monday) - Spaghetti and Meatballs. The taste was OK, but the meatballs were smaller than I expected and the marinara was more chunky/watery versus a sauce that clings to the noodles. I ended up with marinara splatters all over my shirt. I also had Riesling with my meal. It was excellent.
